Saturated Saturday

Looks like the band might be playing inside tonight at the Carib with all the rain predictions. This time of year the weather is prone to change minute by minute. After last nights fiasco between cantankerous bass rigs and the radar showing rain blowing our way...some days are diamonds some days are dust or rain drops in our case this weekend. It's a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation. The reality is having thousands of dollars worth of gear that isn't designed for outside use exposed to the elements for gigs that pay tens of dollars and don't provide adequate covering from the elements. If you've ever tried to cover something with a tarp when a storm suddenly blows in you can appreciate what a futile endeavor it is to try to keep the tarp from blowing in the wind and channeling the water towards the gear you are trying to keep dry.

Nothing like feeling like a total asshole when you've got a decent crowd waiting for the music to start and you've got equipment issues. It's impractical to carry two of everything not to mention expensive and storage space is at a premium in the van. I can only imagine what goes through the peoples mind, do they think we're fucking off on purpose? When the sound system isn't working it's hard to announce that it isn't working or otherwise explain yourself to a crowd that's been dealing with shitty traffic, the heat and the bugs and whatever else and are ready to kick back with a cocktail and enjoy some live music under the stars in the beautiful Florida Keys only to see a bunch of hoodlum looking mother fuckers smoking grass and hanging out behind the stage appearing to be admiring their gear.

So I sincerely apologize for the shitty show last night and hope we can redeem ourselves by rocking the Caribbean Club like in days past, may all of the gear work properly and most importantly may all of you have a great time. Peace and Love!
